London Philharmonic Orchestra chooses iplicit to accompany its finance team

One of the world’s leading orchestras has chosen iplicit’s award-winning accounting software to transform the work of its finance department.

The London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) was impressed by iplicit’s reputation in the arts and nonprofit sector.

Founded by Sir Thomas Beacham in 1932, the LPO is based at London’s Royal Festival Hall, with other resident venues in Brighton, Eastbourne and Saffron Walden. It has a busy touring schedule and a summer residency at Glyndebourne Festival Opera.

The orchestra is widely heard around the world thanks to its work in TV, radio and video games, as well as film soundtracks including The Lord of the Rings.

Through its own LPO recording label, it has more than 120 recordings available to download or buy and is one of the most streamed orchestras in the world, with 15million plays of its music each month.

The LPO’s Finance Director, Frances Slack, said: “We chose iplicit as the right platform for a modernised finance system after examining its strong reputation among arts organisations and nonprofits.

“During the Covid lockdowns, we adapted our paper-based accounting processes to make them email-based. But these processes were still very cumbersome, particularly for common tasks such as approvals, purchase invoices, sales invoices and expenses processing.

“iplicit offered a system that would drastically simplify those tasks. It also provides a native accounts payable automation capability, rather than requiring a third party application.

“The new system will also allow users from outside the finance team to access data and reports themselves, without having to wait for finance to produce the information for them.

“iplicit’s cloud-based system will replace our previous on-premises product, opening up new options for us as our overall IT strategy develops.”

The LPO is the latest in a string of prestigious arts organisations to adopt iplicit, joining customers including Edinburgh International Festival, Scottish Ballet, National Theatre of Scotland and another world-renowned orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

Luke McKenna, Senior Account Executive responsible for arts organisations at iplicit, said: “The work of the London Philharmonic Orchestra has touched lives all around the world, so we’re especially honoured to add the organisation to the ranks of iplicit customers.

“iplicit is the perfect fit for the needs of performing arts organisations. As well as improving reporting and drastically reducing the time taken for everyday accounting tasks, it addresses the sector’s needs when it comes to the complexities of multi-entity accounting, partial VAT, project costing, approval workflows and expenses management.

“Winning a new customer for iplicit never stops being exciting, but to work with an institution of the LPO’s stature makes us particularly proud.”

iplicit was launched in 2019 with a mission to disrupt the accounting software market for medium-sized organisations.

It has won a string of awards, including Best Mid-Market and Enterprise Software at the Accounting Excellence Awards; Enterprise Accounting/ERP System of the Year at the AccountingWEB Best Products Awards and FinTech of the Year at the Tech South West Awards.

iplicit was ranked 18th among UK companies in the 2024 FT1000 list of Europe’s fastest-growing businesses. It also earned a top 10 place in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2024.

How it all works

iplicit’s architecture is quite special; it’s true cloud and only in the browser, but it looks and feels like a desktop application. No layer upon layer of tabs opening and probably the most intuitive navigation that you will find in the marketplace today. Take a look for yourself.
