iplicit makes top 10 in Sunday Times Best Places to Work | iplicit

iplicit has been named one of the UK’s top employers following a resounding vote of confidence by staff.

Our remote-first accounting software business is among the top 10 medium-sized organisations in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work, powered by WorkL.

The latest accolade comes hot on the heels of a report which found iplicit was one of the top 20 fastest-growing firms in the UK.

iplicit CEO Lyndon Stickley said: “It’s incredible to be named among the UK’s top 10 best places to work, just five years after we set out to disrupt a market in a similar vein to the way Netflix disrupted things for Blockbuster.

“It’s always great to collect an award for the fantastic iplicit team and the incredible results they have achieved. But this one is particularly important because it focuses on staff happiness, passion and enthusiasm – and the part they all play in the iplicit vision.

“We now have more than 100 staff and yet we’ve maintained the small company buzz that we had when we were less than a third of this size.”

iplicit is on a mission to transform tens of thousands of UK finance departments by offering them the most innovative, intuitive and powerful accounting software for organisations with a mid-market budget.

It was named the 18th fastest-growing UK company – and 103rd in Europe – in the FT1000 list published earlier this year by the Financial Times and Statista.

Lyndon Stickley said: “Our success can be put down to three factors.

“Firstly, we have the best technology in the market.

“Secondly, we’re disruptive.  Everyone likes to feel that they make a difference in the world, and we really are making a big impact; each time we rescue a customer from being held hostage to an outdated legacy finance system, we get a buzz from effectively punching the complacent, incumbent vendor on the nose. The feeling of bringing about real change that’s long overdue, it’s addictive – the buzz that it generates across the whole team is immeasurable.  We’re all doing something meaningful and it manifests across every single role.

“The third is that we’re a remote-first company, employing staff wherever they want to be employed and working however they want to work. We’re succeeding by putting people first.  This is a recipe for securing and retaining the best talent.”

The Sunday Times ranking was based on a WorkL survey which found:

  • A 97% engagement score
  • 98% confidence in management
  • No staff with a high chance of leaving in the next nine months
  • No staff at risk of poor wellbeing.

“I think our remote working model has led us to focus all the more on staff happiness, morale and communication,” Lyndon Stickley said.

“We obsess about it because it obviously needs attention in a remote-first business, whereas when most staff are based in an office, there’s a danger of taking these things for granted.”

iplicit's target market consists of organisations that have outgrown entry-level cloud systems or outdated on-premises software but have lacked an affordable path to a powerful cloud accounting solution.

It typically serves organisations with 30-500 employees, offering them a significant step up in functionality from entry-level cloud software without the punitive costs associated with comparable systems offered by other vendors. Implementation also typically takes a fraction of the time needed for comparable systems and involves much less disruption to the organisation.

iplicit currently has 102 staff, with 25 additional roles being recruited this year. Its rapid growth trajectory is expected to continue, through direct sales and numerous partnerships in the UK and Ireland, with a US launch lined up for 2025.

Lyndon Stickley added: “Our current trajectory shows us that 2024 will be another record year, delivering the sixth consecutive year of 100%+ growth.  We are all excited to have achieved so much, so quickly, yet we realise that we’re still just scratching the surface of the opportunity in front of us.”
